Volunteer Requirements

We are in need of parents with 10U and older kids to take the necessary steps to become volunteers for this upcoming season. The help we will need includes, Team Managers, Locker-Room Supervisors, Penalty Box Attendants, and Scoreboard Controllers. In order to be qualified and ready to assist in these jobs, we first need you ALL to complete steps 1 & 2.

Step 3 is for the locker room supervisors, penalty box attendants, team managers, and coaches! Every team will need a penalty box volunteer for every game. Every team also needs one or two locker room attendants before and after practices AS WELL AS every game. Often, coaches fill this role, but there are instances where we need a credentialed parents to help with the locker room supervision.

This role can be filled by a parent or caregiver who has completed the following 3 steps. The background check can take a few weeks to clear, so we encourage you to start this process as early as possible.

DAYHA could not operate without volunteers and we greatly appreciate your time.

Upon completion of step one A, please submit your USAH number using the DAYHA Volunteer Form. Please inform your team manager when you have completed the other steps.

A: USA Hockey Registration: Free for Volunteers. Annual registration. You will receive an electronic copy of your registration from USA Hockey. Email your USA Hockey # to our Registrar.

B: Complete the DAYHA Volunteer Form

USA Hockey SafeSport Certification: Free. A 90-minute video with tests. This certification is good for 1 season to the date of completion. The SafeSport Training and Refresher Training are each valid for one (1) season beginning on 4/1/19. Safesport is now a yearly requirement and consists of a core course followed by three refresher courses. Every fourth year one must take the core course again.

USA Hockey Background Screen: $30. You must submit a new background screening every two years. If you are unsure if you need to complete it, please ask the Registrar. Please allow for at least two weeks for your background screening to clear. You will not be able to be placed on a roster or coach until the screening is complete. We recommend completing your screening by August 1st to allow enough time for it to clear. USA Hockey has already entered your self-registration ID number on the first page of the screen. You do not need to change this number. 

*if you are experiencing financial hardship and need to be reimbursed for the $30 background check fee, please reach out to your team managers. DAYHA is able to reimburse an allotted number of background checks per team*
